Font Creation

I am taking two classes this summer: Digital Photography and Typography. I seem to be MUCH more comfortable in the typography class. It's more hands-on at the moment. This was my first font creation. We were not allowed to use any curves (it had to be a bitmap) and stair-stepping the bits seemed like cheating. Then I found out that the instructor wasn't so concerned with the strictness of the instructions, so I added some curve to the second font. I'm really pleased with how this assignment turned out.

Randomness

1. My sister is officially in town. Ahh! I can't believe it's actually happened. :) They've rented the cutest house on the block and I love that they will be so close!

2. I got the syllabus for one of my classes this summer and I can't believe how busy I am going to be. Who's idea was it to take two classes??? (but I'm so excited about typography!)

3. Headed to the lake this early Saturday morning. It's going to be a blast. And classes start while there. Thank god my Aunt and her son will be joining us so Hayes won't be too neglected.

4. The garden has taken a back seat already to the travel schedule (and school). I am trying not to guilt myself about it. At least there isn't much to harvest these days but peas and radishes. LOVE THOSE PEAS!

5. Did I mention my sister is in town?

We’ve been busy alright

Much has been happening in the Confessions house as of late. You’d never know it from the blog silence, but we’ve been quietly humming along. Most of what we’ve been up to is a work in progress, so there have been no fantastic photos to pass along. Here is a quick list of what’s been keeping us busy:

  • A New Kitchen Faucet
  • Knitting: Dolly Sox, Sweater of Many Colors, Super Scarf, Fern Back Sox, and a Market Bag/Tote
  • Digi-scrapping last July 4th (finally done!)
  • Refashioned Top
  • Farmers Marketing
  • Planting: Onions, beets, peppers, chilés
  • PEO: PCE grant business

More to follow in the next few days….

Going Back To School

It's official - I'm going back to school. I am currently working as a note taker at Ivy Tech, and I've had a taste of the design classes there. I have always fancied myself a life-long learner. And I've worked in many different jobs in my short life, including campus ministry, event planning, teaching, and running my own small art business. As an artist, I've taught myself all but the basics I learned in high school. Getting my teaching degree left little room to pursue art.

So now I am going to be an Ivy Tech student learning the ropes of graphic design. I'm registered for two classes this summer and two in the fall, and honestly, I can't wait! I am really looking forward to having the interaction with other artists and getting the experience of learning these programs in and out. Hopefully I'll be just as excited once I'm in the thick of it. Only time will tell...
